Residential Retrofit

Make an existing system work — without starting over by default.

We assess the technology your home already has, then recommend one of three honest paths: take it over, upgrade selectively, or replace it. No universal promises before we have looked.

Is this for you?

Start with the home you have.

This service usually begins with one of these:

  • You bought a home with technology left behind — and missing passwords or unclear wiring.
  • Rooms work inconsistently or need too many workarounds.
  • The network or control system no longer keeps up with daily use.
  • You want to improve selected rooms without reopening the whole house.

In a finished home, the work also has to respect the surfaces and routines already in place.

The assessment

First, a clear record of what the system is doing now.

  1. See what is actually there

We document visible devices, equipment, wiring, network conditions, and control behavior — and note what is difficult to access.

  2. Separate symptoms from causes

An unreliable control may point to a network, configuration, wiring, or hardware issue. The audit helps distinguish these before choosing equipment.

  3. Agree on what matters

We review rooms, routines, frustrations, timing, and acceptable disruption before recommending a path.

Three paths

Three options, based on the system assessment.

Compatibility, condition, documentation, access, and your intended result determine what we can support. The audit informs the recommendation; you choose the scope.

Take over

When it fits

The existing system is documented well enough, and its condition suits how you want to use it.

What changes

We organize, stabilize, and take responsibility for what is already there — and record it for future care.

Selective upgrade

When it fits

Most of the system is sound, but a weak network, dated interface, or missing room capability holds it back.

What changes

We change the parts that matter most, coordinate around finished surfaces, and keep compatible equipment in place.

Replace

When it fits

The system cannot be made reliable or supportable within the scope you want.

What changes

We explain the evidence, plan work around an occupied home, and deliver a documented system for the next phase.

Selective work is still engineering work: it gets a clear scope, careful coordination, and a record you can use later.

After the work

Know how to use and care for your system.

We introduce the agreed controls, keep the project record clear, and describe the care path for the completed scope.

Familiarization
Handoff covers the interfaces that are actually in your home.
A current record
The system record is kept up to date, so future changes have a clear starting point.
Remote diagnostics
Available only where system configuration and secure access allow.
Hands-on visits
Arranged under the applicable service agreement.

Questions before work begins

In short: no guaranteed takeover of every system, walls are not always opened, and this is a planned service — not emergency response.

The next step

Understand what you inherited.

Tell us about the home, the current system, and what is not working. Model numbers are not required. Helpful to mention: rooms and routines affected, known access or account details, and timing or disruption constraints.
